Proper Eats in St. Johns (North Portland) rocks,
and they wont want to miss Casa Diablo,
the worlds first Vegan strip bar, on NW St. Helens Rd. in Portland.

There's a pretty good Thai place in Vegas. Not 100% vegan but they have lots of goodies. It's called Komol Restaurant, 953 E Sahara Ave, E-10. Kind of hard to find, it's in a big asian strip mall kind of shopping center. We drove around the parking lot for 20 minutes before we found it :P

        lol

I play hockey in Vegas every year...this place is in the same mall as the roller hockey rink (north side o the parking lot)...sweeeeet!!

...c'ept I didn't know it was there the first two times I played there :P

There is an S&M church (I sh*t you not) and a huge wig outlet in the same building as the hockey rink...might be easier to look for those instead ;)

I may be far too late to be helpful, but here are my faves:

    New York:
I'm headed here myself tomorrow, and would appreciate any suggestions from anyone!

    Los Angeles:
Native Foods, hands down, is my favorite. It's in Westwood near UCLA.
    Other very good choices are:
Flore in Silverlake (especially for Brunch or lunch)
Cru in Silverlake (raw, pricey and yummy)
Real Food Daily near Beverly Center or in Santa Monica
California Vegan on Sunset in Hollywood or on Bundy in Santa Monica. LA has a bout a ton of these Thai vegan places everywhere, especially in Hollywood. They are somewhat interchangeable, but the orange chicken at CV is so good.
Also Truly Vegan in Hollywood on Hollywood blvd near the 101. Amazing wheat-free pancakes and fried chicken.
Everyone loves Pure Luck in Silverlake, but I've never been there.

    Portland:
There is practically vegan food on every corner. I love Portland.
They've got to go to Veganopolis. I LOVE this place. You pay by weight and it's a full buffet, including brunch, and so yummy. Closed Sunday though.
Backspace cafe has some amazing vegan sandwiches (sausage & peppers, steak) and good coffee (and you can check your email).
Also, grab a vegan donut at Voodoo Donuts for a severe sugar rush.

    SF:
Herbivore in the Mission district (I think on Valencia) is quite yummy and affordable. The breakfast potatoes are to die for.

    Las Vegas:
I go here a lot and it is difficult. Usually I grab something at Wild Oats to keep at the hotel for breakfast.
Capriotti's is a sandwich place that has vegan meat options, and there are several around Vegas.
There is also a vegan donut place, but it's quite out of the way (and was closed when I went in the afternoon).
I always end up eating at PF Chang's or something with vegan options, because they don't really understand veganism here.
There is an amazing but quite pricey Morroccan place called Marrakech, where you can get a full vegan spread and watch bellydancers. That's a splurge for sure though.

I always just print out a list from Happy Cow for the city I'll be in. But the ones above are recommended.
